7 Easy-To-Follow Segments. This workshop is broken down into 7 easy-to-follow segments that take you step-by-step through each topic with video demonstrations. So it’ll be like we’re together in person, only better you’ll be able to go at your own pace and hit pause and play as many times as you’d like!
Learn From A Pro. I’ve been a professional photographer for over 10 years and I’m teaching you the exact settings that I adjust on my camera during every photo shoot. I’m also telling you which settings you can completely ignore.
Arica Dorff (and Gracie!)
Photographer & Instructor
Why do you want to learn photography? Maybe you have pets, kids or grandkids that you want to photograph. Maybe you travel a lot and want to capture the amazing sites you’re seeing. Some of you may have a brochure, website, or home decorating project and you want to use your OWN high quality images instead of buying pictures that someone else took.
In Segment 1, I’ll give you my camera recommendations and you’ll learn what lenses are compatible with what cameras. Remember, you will be able to capture great images with any camera that offers manual exposure controls!
Segment 2 is all about awesome and easy lighting tips that I guarantee will improve the look of your images! As a professional photographer, these are the lighting techniques that I utilize with every portrait session!
Segment 3 covers the 3 “ingredients” that make up exposure and control the amount of light you let into your camera.
In Segment 4 we’ll do a once over on your camera to make sure that it’s set-up properly. We’ll work together to figure out the 3 ingredients on your camera and fill in the blanks on your workshop Cheat Sheet!
Segment 5 – Part 1. Understanding what your built-in camera light meter does and the metering mode that you want to set your camera to.
Segment 5 – Part 2. How to read your light meter so you know what to set your 3 ingredients to to get the proper exposure.
Segment 6 will save you hours of confusion and frustration! I’ll cover hand-holding your camera, Variable Aperture Lenses, and Wide Angle Lens Distortion.
In Segment 7 you’ll learn how to use your Shutter Speed to show or stop motion in your portraits, and how Aperture gives you control over your background being in focus or out of focus. Video demonstrations included!
“I have taken a number of workshops for my photography business and by far my favorite was Arica’s online pet photography and business workshop. No matter what she is teaching, she has an easy way about her that allows the student to learn and enjoy themselves while doing so. She explains concepts and shows examples to make the topics easy to understand. I highly recommend her as an online teacher!”

This workshop includes a custom designed awesome Cheat Sheet so you can quickly reference how to adjust your camera settings in different lighting situations. Throughout the workshop, you’ll fill in the blanks so the Cheat Sheet is specific to YOUR camera!

You’ll only need 4 things – a camera, a lens, a battery for your camera, and a memory card. That’s it! Oh and if you have your camera instruction manual, that’s a bonus. If not, you can always look up your camera instruction manual online.
I dedicated an entire segment to answering this question (Segment 1)! In Segment 1, I give you camera suggestions and information about selecting lenses that are compatible with your specific camera. But the short answer is, you will be able to complete this workshop and capture amazing images with ANY digital camera that has the ability to shoot on Manual Mode (meaning that you can adjust your Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO manually).
Absolutely! The point of this workshop is for you to get results, so if you’re struggling with anything, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Send me pictures that you’re taking and tell me what the issues are that you’re facing and we’ll work together to get you back on track!
You can learn photography the fast way or the slow way. The slow way would be to read hundreds of articles online, get overwhelmed by all of the information, and end up more confused than when you started. You could also attend months of classes at your local college, but most of us can’t find 20 minutes a day to workout, so months of classes probably won’t happen any time soon.
The other option is to learn the fast way, right here with my online workshop. I created a step-by-step system for you to follow so by the end of this workshop, you’ll be confidently adjusting your camera settings in all different lighting situations and you’ll have complete control over the exposure and creative look of every image that you capture! Basically, I created the most awesome short-cut for you and left out all of the extra stuff that you don’t need to know that tends to confuse and overwhelm people. Photography is supposed to be fun, not frustrating. I look forward to being a part of your photographic journey!
Throughout this workshop I give you “homework” so you are practicing everything you’re learning. You’ll also be hitting pause to figure out settings on your camera and to jot down notes on your Cheat Sheet. So how long it takes to complete the workshop is going to differ for everyone. But if you watch the workshop from start to finish without stopping for practice shoots or to take notes, the workshop is 3 hours long.
If you’re ready to start your Manual Exposure Photography training, select a payment option below, add it to your cart, checkout, and you’ll be taken directly to the workshop and can start your training immediately!
let’s start learning!

“I first saw Arica give a workshop online a few years ago and she really unlocked the secrets of pet photography for me, something I had been wanting to do but could not understand by watching other instructors. I also attended one of her in-person workshops and that made me even more of an Arica fan, if that’s possible. She’s warm, extremely knowledgeable, and that girl knows the intricacies of her stuff. Arica literally gave me a career by watching her workshops. When it comes to photography instructors, I can’t recommend Arica Dorff more highly!”
“I just finished Arica’s Manual Exposure Photography Workshop. It was wonderful! She puts everything in simple terms and makes it so easy to follow. This saved me hours of reading and time watching YouTube videos to figure out my camera. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to learn the basics and is just starting out. Thanks Arica!”
